August 7, IFIF public relation- Managing Director of Islamic Republic of Iran Railways mentioned the crucial role of Qazvin-Rasht-Astara railway to connect North-South corridor and he added that it would ease products transfer to European countries.

The North-South corridor is a way to transit products from Korea, China, Singapore and India to Europe and Russia.

During the visit to Baku, President Hassan Rouhani signed an MoU on trade and railway cooperation with Azerbaijan, he also is to attend  trilateral talks among Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan to discuss the grounds for broadening cooperation in commerce, energy, telecommunications, environment, fight against terrorism, transportation and transit of goods.
Prior to Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan trilateral summit to consult on activating North–South Transport Corridor, reviving the mentioned corridor has been emphasized in different events such as Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan trilateral summit in Incheh Borun and Iran, Afghanistan and India in Tehran.
